May News

The weather the past few months, although not too conducive for golf, has been wonderful for the golf course health.  I can't remember a time in the 10 years that we've been open when the course has looked and played so beautifully.  We will not do our first major aerification until June 6th so you still have a month to come enjoy the near-perfect conditions.

We are still trying to complete our bunker renovation project, but the frequent rains have made the progress slow down significantly.  We will continue to work on these and other projects throughout the year and should make good headway as we move into our drier months.

We have started a new Customer Loyalty Program.  We have punch cards in the golf shop and for every 10 paid rounds of golf you play with us, you will be able to take 40% off an article of clothing.  Just ask for a card next time you play.

Our Director of Golf, Adam Grosch, will be on the Texas Golf Insider show on Thursday, May 18th from 7:00 to 8:00pm.  You can watch the show live online at The show is also broadcast on ESPN The Zone in San Antonio on 1250AM on Saturday morning May 20th from 8:00 to 9:00am

Our weekly skins games on Fridays and Sundays start at  2:00.  Your green fee and cart is just $35, plus $20 cash for the skins game. Anyone can play, just show up and be ready to make birdies.

Our monthly 2-person scramble for May will be on Sunday the 28th with a shotgun start at 8:30. The cost is $60 per player which includes: green fee and cart, range balls, 3 drink tickets, 2 mulligans, prizes for on-course contests, prizes for the top 3 teams, and food after the round.  To sign up please reply to this email or call the golf shop.  Please provide a handicap for both players when signing up.

If you're looking to fine tune your swing or get a new set of clubs to match your swing please give us a call.  Adam Grosch and Andrew Bryant are both qualified to improve your game.  We offer individual lessons or you can opt for a 4-lesson series and take advantage of the discounted rate.  Lessons can be planned to fit your schedule. Superintendent's Corner
We have applied our first application of fertilizer to the rough this past month. It has responded nicely with the recent rains we have received. Now that the greens are growing we will be starting our annual maintenance practices on them. We will be verti cutting and topdressing as needed to help control thatch and try to keep the grain issue as controlled as possible.
